The Origin Of Morality

How did we get here?

According to the best understanding of evolution and paleontology, Homo Sapiens like us, have existed for more or less 100k years.

To put in perspective: the Roman Empire begun less than 3k years ago and the Great Pyramids of Giza were built circa 5k years ago. The entire history of human civilization is, more or less, 6–7k years. Let’s make it 10k to be safe.

That leads to the question: what were we doing for 90k+ years? After all humans born, say 50k years ago, had the exact same biology and psychology traits of Einstein or Steve Jobs or Napoleon or Marie Antoinette. So then, why didn’t they accomplish anything of importance?

There are many theories that attempt to explain why and how we went from being hunters & gatherers for thousands and thousands of years to, suddenly building pyramids and spaceships. The best that I have read can be found inside the book “Sapiens” by Yuval Noah Harari
